Mouth Watering Spicy Fried Fish Recipe

Now I know what you all are thinking. Fried Fish? Isn't that unhealthy? Well, yes and no. See it all depends on how you fry the fish, what type of oil you use and what you eat with your fried fish. Now it doesn't all have to be bad. Fish is one of the healthiest foods on the planet and for good reason. It is very high in Omega 3 fatty acids and when cooked right, can be flavorful and divine.

A lot of fish is very expensive these days. If you go to your local grocery store, you will find a lot of very expensive varieties of fish. Generally this makes people go straight for the canned tuna. I am here to tell you that you don't have to go for canned fish. You can get some good old fashioned Tilapia and apply some spice magic to make it awesome.

Look, not everyone can afford Salmon these days, and even if you did get some Salmon, you probably wouldn't want to overpower its delicate flavor with spices and seasoning anyway, so for the purposes of this recipe, let us stick to basic and inexpensive fish that you can at the local supermarket - Tilapia or Catfish.

These days, you can get some excellent discounts and coupons at supermarkets and if you play your cards right, you can even get your groceries for free!

Ingredients

Fish Filets
Salt
Cayenne Pepper or Red Chili Powder
Cumin
Olive Oil

Method

Combine the dry ingredients (Salt, Cayenne or Red Chili powder, Cumin) together to get a dry spice rub. Drizzle some olive oil on both sides of the fish filets and sprinkle the dry rub on both sides as well. The oil will help to coat the fish with the dry spice rub and leave aside for 10 minutes.

Get a nice non-stick cooking pan and heat up some olive oil (just enough to coat the pan). I wouldn't recommend using Pam simply because it won't be enough to keep the fish from sticking and also because Olive oil is a great and healthy product that is perfect for this purpose.

When the oil is nice and hot, gently place the fish in the pan and cook for 5-10 minutes until the fish becomes white and flaky. Then carefully flip the fish with a wooden spatula making sure not to splash any oil. Cook for another 5 minutes until white and flaky. The thicker the filets, the longer they will take to cook.

So there you have it, a nice spicy and yummy fried fish recipe. I highly recommend serving this with a squeeze of fresh lime or lemon which will really bring out the flavors. Enjoy as part of a family meal or as a snack.
